Teacher FAQs

We’ve tried to answer many common questions below, but if you need additional help, please get in touch

General

  • How do I register my school?

Click ‘Register’ on the top right-right corner. Next, click ‘Register my School’, and complete the registration form and click ‘Submit’. After that, a Heart & Stroke representative will get in touch with your school’s fundraising page link.

  • How do I customize my school’s event page?

Customizing your school page is easy. Please refer to our How-To Customize Your  School Fundraising Page Guide.

  • How do we tell families at home that we are participating in Jump Rope for Heart?

Check out our teachers resources  where you’ll find everything you need including the letter home to families, announcements, and digital eCard. Send the digital eCard home to families to let them know when your event is taking place.

Following your Kick-Off assembly, send the Parent/Guardian letter home to tell families everything they need to know about Jump.

Finally, refer to the customizable announcements to add messaging to your school’s communication portal or app.

  • Is Jump Rope for Heart an online fundraising program?

Yes! Jump Rope for Heart is an online-first fundraising program for the following reasons:

We've heard concerns from parents and teachers alike about children carrying money on their person or going door-to-door in neighbourhoods without parental involvement. It is also a secure way for children and families to collect donations from friends and family who live far away.

It is more efficient and advantageous for schools to fundraise online. When students collect their donations online, teachers and administrators spend less time collecting and counting pledge envelopes. This means that Thank You Prizes will be received sooner! It is also easier for schools to track progress towards their school goal online, as they can view online donations in real-time and download a complete fundraising report on the school’s total online impact and top online fundraisers.

It is an efficient and sustainable way for donors to give. When a donor gives online, they receive an electronic tax receipt immediately to their inbox for a seamless experience - no postage or transport is required, and filing is paperless!

It helps Heart & Stroke save on administration, meaning more dollars can go directly to our cause.

  • A student wants to participate in Jump but is unable to fundraise online. Is there a way they can still participate and help raise money?

Yes! While Jump is an online-first fundraising program, we understand that there may be exceptional circumstances or preferences that necessitate offline fundraising. Please click here to refer to the provided guidelines and steps included in our Offline Fundraising Process for Schools resource.

  • How can I ensure our Event Day activities are inclusive and meet the needs of all students?

We understand that every student is unique, and we're here to help you create an event that caters to all abilities. Please review our Event Day Activity Guide for fun skipping activities with non-skipping options to ensure everyone can participate. You know your student body best, tailor your stations to their capabilities. If you’re unsure of how to engage certain students, consider consulting your school’s gym teacher, EA or nurse to assess children’s fitness abilities.

Please note: Ropeless ropes are available on request and can be used by children without using their legs, or using only one arm as the weighted rope gives the sensation of jumping.

  • There used to be a Heart & Stroke Representative that came to my school to present the Kick-off Assembly and/or attend Event Day. Is this still possible?

No, Heart & Stroke representatives are unable to come to schools. However, we have introduced increased flexibility for teachers to run their events on the day of their choosing. Plus, we have developed digital resources that walk teachers and students through the program from start to finish.

  • Are you still offering the GiveBack program this year?

Yes, we are! We will continue offering options of a 5% net cheque back, a Wintergreen gift card or donating back to Heart & Stroke.

  • What is the difference between a Prize and No Prize (Thank You Gifts) school?

During registration, you have the option to opt your school in for prizes, now called Thank You Gifts. Thank You Gifts are rewarded as digital gift cards to students who fundraise $75 or more. Heart & Stroke will contact families of children who qualify for a gift card directly via email with a unique code to collect a gift card of their choosing through our online portal.

It is important for students to register online and fundraise on their Fundraising Page rather than the school’s page to ensure students are awarded the correct gift card value.

  • How can I view student donations online?

Please refer to our How-To Pull Reports Guide for step by step instructions to view student donations.

  • What is CrowdChange?

CrowdChange is a Heart & Stroke partner and the fundraising platform for Jump Rope for Heart. CrowdChange provides an easy and safe way to raise funds online for Heart & Stroke.  They assist Heart & Stroke in everything from developing the site to providing technical customer service support to our participants and donors.

  • What should I do if I'm having problems or have a question that wasn't answered here?

For any technical website support, CrowdChange will be happy to help you get it sorted out - please send an email to support@crowdchange.com.

For all other questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help!

Fundraising & Donations

  • Is fundraising done online only?

Yes! Jump Rope for Heart is an online-only fundraising program for the following reasons:

    1. It is a safe way for children and families to collect donations. We want to keep families and teachers safe. We've also heard concerns from parents and teachers alike about children carrying money on their person or going door-to-door in neighbourhoods without parental involvement. It is also a secure way for children and families to collect donations from friends and family who live far away.

    2. It is more efficient and advantageous for schools to fundraise online. When students collect their donations online, teachers and administrators spend less time collecting and counting pledge envelopes. This means that Thank You Prizes will be received sooner! It is also easier for schools to track progress towards their school goal online, as they can view online donations in real-time and download a complete fundraising report on the school's total online impact and top online fundraisers.

    3. It is an efficient and sustainable way for donors to give. When a donor gives online, they receive an electronic tax receipt immediately to their inbox for a seamless experience - no postage or transport is required, and filing is paperless!

    4. It helps Heart & Stroke save on administration, meaning more dollars can go directly to our cause. It also keeps everyone safe from exposure, as cash does not have to be handled and counted.

  • My child wants to participate in Jump, but we are unable to fundraise online. Is there a way we can still participate and help raise money?

While Jump is an online-first fundraising program, we understand that there may be exceptional circumstances that necessitate offline fundraising. For that reason, we have established a process that enables teachers to submit offline funds to Heart & Stroke at the conclusion of their school's Jump event.

To participate in offline fundraising, please follow these steps:

    1. Print and utilize our provided pledge form.
    2. Ensure that all donor information on the pledge form is legible, as this is essential for Heart & Stroke to issue tax receipts.
    3. Submit the completed pledge form, along with the collected funds, to your school once your Jump Event has concluded.

If your school is part of the Thank You Gift Card program, kindly make sure to include a valid email address on the pledge form. This will enable Heart & Stroke to send the gift card via email.

While we encourage everyone to fundraise online-first, we want to ensure all students have the chance to get involved and help others by fundraising to beat heart disease and stroke.

  • How can I support my child's fundraising?

We strongly encourage parents to support their children's fundraising efforts by asking for support from family, friends, work colleagues and close neighbours online. For tips on how to get started online, please visit Families' Corner

  • How do I know if my school is accepting fundraising prizes (Thank You Gift Cards)?

Schools are offered the choice at registration to fundraise as a Prize or No Prize school. As a prize school, student fundraisers are rewarded with a digital Thank You Gift card if they fundraise $75 or more. To determine if your school accepts prizes, please contact your child’s teacher.

Thank You Prizes

  • Why do you offer prizes for fundraising?

We offer online Thank You gift cards as a reward to students who reach $75 or more in fundraising, a ‘thank you’ from Heart & Stroke for their efforts and a form of encouragement to stay physically active long after their Jump event. Gift cards are awarded to students who reach graduated fundraising levels, and we hope you redeem them for fitness-themed products.

Some participating schools decide to opt-out of individual Thank You gift cards for students. Please check with your school to see if they offer online Thank You gift cards in their Jump Rope for Heart program.

  • When and how will my child receive their Thank You gift card?

If your child’s school offers gift cards, then you’ll receive an email to the address used to register your child 4-6 weeks after their Jump Event. This email will prompt you to visit the portal, enter your redemption code and select your online gift card from the available options: Indigo, Amazon.ca, and Walmart.

Indigo, Walmart and Amazon.ca cards are electronic gift cards that are emailed within 24-48 hours of your selection.

All online gift cards can be redeemed online or in-store.

  • When will I receive my Thank You gift card if I participate as part of the National Jump Team?

All online Thank You gift cards for National Jump Team participants will be ordered by June 30, 2025. Students on the National Jump Team can fundraise up until this date. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us.
